At first the update notes on the official wiki had no mention of a VS farm nerf.

Then there was an addition to the Misc section after the Amatz Basin change saying that the Slavers chest no longer drops Voltaic Spears.

Now it says that ALLEGEDLY the chest no longer drops the VS.

Anyone got any further news or proof either way?

Wiki manipulation for trading profits?

Need a source for this information, it's not official and it's quite early to say that from just player experience. Unless someone can access the droptables somehow... in which I don't believe. Or was it mentioned in a dev talk somewhere that this update will make such a change?

If it was really true it would be imho *wrong way* - they should look into the ways of the speed farming abuse instead of just removing one weapon from droptables. The biggest problem with that farm wasn't the Voltaic Spear itself but the tons of Diamonds, Onyx and other golds that dropped there, massively tanking their value.

I am very skeptical, mostly because I have no idea where this information would have come from. It's not in the official notes or the dev update notes, and there's no way you could figure this out for yourself in an hour. I've done more than a few hours worth of runs without getting a vs.

Edit: from what I've been seeing, I'm willing to bet it's a price gouging scheme.

looking now at the anecdotal evidence in Umbral, it does look like a hoax, but a /close would only help a hoax by removing discussion.

Some idiot made it up in Umbral Grotto a earlier... you wouldn't believe the chaos it caused because other idiots believe everything Wiki says and not the official update notes.

2. start commotion in community by creating rumor (which is terribly easy)
3. edit wiki with said rumor that would take time to disprove
4. sell vspears to gullible newbs for mass gold

I have it on excellent authority that they did remove Voltaic Spears from that chest, They replaced it with a new weapon called a "pointy stick."

The voices have never been wrong before.

imo it is nerfed cause perma is too much of a pain to keep up now. barely lasting for 30 secs= 0e fast.

The biggest problem with the VS spear farm is that no one groups do to Duncan anymore. It doesn't have anything to do with economy or onyx/diamond drops.

Deldrimor Armor remnants are 15-20k (and going up) and it takes a very long time to get a group for duncan HM as Umbral is all VSF 24/7. To get Legendary Master of the North on my Mes, our hodgepodge pug ended up using me as a Me/A shadow form + swap tank with Olias being a pro N/R frozen soil duncan slayer. This dungeon is not pleasant to do with H/H - it's much easier with even a pug, but the voltaic spear groups are endangering the rest of slaver's exile.

The best way to encourage people to actually play through all of slaver's exile is to move the voltaic spear loot table to duncan's chest only - or reduce the requirements for opening the door to duncan the black's zone.

I don't think the drops have changed (probably someone messing with wiki) but I can understand the rationale if it actually turns out to be true.

Who cares about VS?
Everyone and there Koss has one, if anyone wanted a cool looking weapon, they should at least get something that is at least remotly rare.

Well if they did remove it, it would not be "allegedly" removed. It would be stated as a fact in the Update notes on the Guildwars website. This is just someone being a #%@#.

Edit: I personally don't like the look of most spears so for me it's a matter of looks not rarity I want it for (For my Paragon).

I care because I like the skin and have been owning one before VSF came out. I'm still using it tho, (although i lost ectos......). I doubt cool looking=rarity.

The general public want it cause its "Rare" hence why this thread was made, i doubt that someone would do 200+ VS runs when they could do 5~ UW Runs in a lot less time and just buy it cause it looks "cool".

This. Honestly it never made sense to me that the most elite drops in the game came out of anything but the most elite area. The other dungeons preceding Duncan are really not that difficult even to H/H. Plus, there are the swarms of touchers in Duncan that will kill off Shadow Form pretty effectively.

My concern about Shadow Form grows, by the way, as I've been running it since before the buff back in the strictly A/Me days and it's become a favorite of mine. I think high end things like this need to be adjusted around people's abuses rather than take that skill away from us. Still, I know this isn't directly related to the discussion, so I'll leave that open ended.
